Volunteer Work
I give back to my community by helping grow the Ozark Foothills African American Museum's social media presence. The Ozark Foothills African-American History Museum is located in Twin Groves, AR. The museum's mission is to recover, research, collect, preserve, interpret, teach, and promote knowledge and appreciation of the African people, with an emphasis on African-Americans. The Museum's founder is Ms. Albessie Thompson. I work alongside her to educate our community by creating informative posts. The post includes history about our community's past and research about our many ancestors who developed the small town. Posts are also related to the Memorial Garden recently built to honor the community's families. As the organization's social media manager, I work hard to attend city events and make sure photos are uploaded. My most recent post for the museum is a part of a series titled "The Plight of Homesteaders in the Foothills of the Ozarks." The following series of posts explores the challenges individuals and their families faced when cultivating the land we call home.
